A few months ago, there was talk of TNA Wrestling potentially going to a new venue for a possible residency to help cut down on costs to tape their weekly television show, Impact.
That venue is Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, the old home of WWE NXT. WWE started filming NXT shows at the university in 2012 and hosting Tough Enough, the Cruiserweight Classic, the Mae Young Classic, and others. When NXT was moved to the USA Network and expanded to a two-hour program, the university continued hosting the show.
Things changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic that started in early 2020 when WWE stopped taping shows because the students were no longer on campus to help with WWE production. WWE has remained at the Performance Center to tape weekly NXT TV.
The idea for TNA to run shows at the venue came from Scott D’Amore and Lou D’Angeli, but their departures from the promotion have caused some doubt about it happening. Outside of the dates in late August and early September, no further dates have been announced.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “the talk that the Full Sail residency and going live every week seemed to be falling through without Lou D’Angeli, although some have said it’s not totally dead.”
