Swerve Strickland Confirms Contact With WWE, Darby Allin Calls Jon Moxley Underrated

In a recent appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” Swerve Strickland confirmed rumors that WWE would contact his representation following his departure from the company.

However, Strickland clarified that WWE did not directly communicate with him and did not reveal if it occurred while he was under contract with AEW.

He said, Yeah. It wasn’t like the words ‘re-sign.’ They ‘asked about my availability.’ They never contacted me. They contacted my representation. I’m at a stage now where I enjoy the fact that I don’t have that direct contact. When you are progressing and getting higher and you’re in rooms with people like [Charlamagne Tha God], you have to kind of keep space in between these types of conversations. You can check my phone. It’s never been there. I never had direct contact. I want to keep that little space. Communication has been reached out.”

In a recent appearance on the “Superstar Crossover” podcast, Darby Allin explained why he believes Jon Moxley is underrated as an AEW performer.

Moxley emerged victorious against Allin this week on AEW Dynamite, securing a shot at Bryan Danielson’s AEW World Title at WrestleDream 2024.

Allin said, It sounds kind of strange to say this, but I think it’s Jon Moxley. When he first came to the company, he was the guy. I remember being like, ‘This is game-changing,’ for him to show up at Double or Nothing. I felt like he was just another guy for a while. He was thrown into random matches for the sake of it. If you give Jon the ball, there is no better performer than him. I felt like his run last year, he became IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, but in the world of AEW, I felt like he was just in random tag matches. I felt something when he came out at Double or Nothing. I felt the energy of the room change. Now, I feel he’s put himself right back in the fold by killing people with plastic bags.”
