At SummerSlam this past weekend, Braun Strowman absolutely squashed Kevin Owens in their singles match at âThe Biggest Party Of The Summer.â Strowmanâs Money In The Bank briefcase was on the line. Had Strowman lost in any way at all, Owens wouldâve won the briefcase.
Owens is a former Intercontinental, United States and Universal Champion. Heâs one of the top heels in the WWE and one of the industryâs most talented stars. When he was squashed by Strowman at SummerSlam without much of a fight at all, it upset some fans. Add WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin to that bunch. Austin took to his podcast, The Steve Austin Show, to offer his thoughts on Owens getting squashed.
Austin understands that WWE is grooming Strowman for bigger and better things down the road, but didnât think Owens needed to be squashed in that process:
âI hope Kevin Owens can claw his way back to where he was. Hopefully, theyâre booking him to get back to where he was. Iâm a big fan of both guys. Iâm friends with both guys, but, man, with Braun, Braun is a big guy. And Kevin has been in the picture for a lot of titles, held a lot of titles, and I just thought, âman, he didnât get sât in, so, eh, I just wasnât a fan.â
âYeah, I just didnât think Kevin Owens needed to get steamrolled because heâs a top guy. And, obviously, Braun Strowman is still green, but heâs a top guy. Theyâre grooming him for bigger and better things, but KO didnât need to get squashed in the process.â
