Stephen Amell doesnât understand why people always underestimate the reach of professional wrestling.
The former Arrow star has been a part of professional wrestling for years now. It started in 2015, when wrestled against Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett in a tag team match at Summerslam 2015.
He went on to wrestle alongside the Bullet Club in Ring of Honor in 2017. This was followed by a match at the original All In, where Stephen Amell faced Christopher Daniels. Additionally, he went on to star as Jake Spade in the Starz drama Heels.
While Stephen Amell has embraced professional wrestling, he notes that not all those in the media understand its scope.
Stephen Amell appeared on Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum, and spoke about how studio executives underestimate wrestlingâs popularity.
With the problems Heels had, being cancelled and struggling to find the right network for the show, he is flabbergasted with how little the higher-ups understand about wrestling, until they actually attend a big WWE event.
âPeople will always underestimate the scale, scope, and reach of professional wrestling.â Stephen Amell said. âNot just people who wouldnât have an inclination to watch it. But people who really should know better at this point. Like television executives, studio executives, network executives. Theyâre constantly like, youâll bring them to WrestleMania at SoFi or Allegiant Stadium, or theyâll go to a basic event like Raw at Crypto, and theyâll walk in and be like, âWow, a lot of people like professional wrestling!’â
During the show, Amell also said that there is a âframeworkâ for new seasons of Heels, but it does not come without some hurdles.
