SPOILER: Advertisement reveals plans for WWE Championship match at SummerSlam

It looked like WWE was teasing Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. AJ Styles for SummerSlam but Styles got a clean victory over Almas on Smackdown Live this week. Following this week’s show, there were still questions about who would be the next person to challenge for the title and now it looks like have an answer.

AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe is the match being featured on some of the online advertisements sent out by WWE. If WWE sticks to those plans, then it looks like this year’s SummerSlam will be a stacked card and the Styles/Joe match could end up stealing the show. Long-time fans might remember some of their excellent matches in TNA Wrestling. In fact, the Joe vs. Styles vs. Christopher Daniels from the Unbreakable 2005 pay-per-view is regarded by many fans as one of the greatest matches in the history of the promotion.

Now, they will get to face each other on a bigger stage. If WWE creative doesn’t get in the way then we could get a Match Of The Year contender.

As of this writing, WWE has announced these matches for SummerSlam:

– Brock Lesnar will defend the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns or Bobby Lashley (TBD this Monday on Raw).
– Alexa Bliss will defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey.

SummerSlam will take place on Sunday, August 19, 2018 and will air live on the WWE Network.
