Ricochet made a splash when he debuted for AEW during the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In in August. While he didn’t clinch the victory, he certainly turned heads with his impressive performance, setting the stage for his AEW journey. Now, just a month later, Ricochet is set to challenge Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship at AEW Dynamite’s Five Year Anniversary.
In a recent interview on Talk Is Jericho, Ricochet shared his unique experience of being snuck into Wembley Stadium ahead of his debut. He humorously recalled how it felt to be hidden under a tarped golf cart as he was discreetly escorted through the venue.
“It’s funny because I had to be snuck in,” Ricochet said. “I’ve never been in that position before. I get on the golf cart with the black tarp over me going through—it was weird, to be in that position is weird.”
Despite the unconventional entry, Ricochet revealed that all his nerves faded away as soon as he stepped through the curtain and into the ring.
“I stayed at the hotel in the airport. I was kind of sequestered in a room all day, so I really didn’t get to see anybody but the people in the match… Then you go up there and the nerves are definitely there, but once you step through the curtain, all the nerves and emotions dissipate into go time.”
Ricochet also shared a bit of wisdom from one of his biggest inspirations, NBA legend Kobe Bryant, when discussing how he approaches high-pressure situations like his All In debut.
“Anytime I start to get nervous, I try to channel that mentality. I’ve been here before. Obviously never Wembley, but in high-pressure situations like the Tokyo Dome or WrestleMania. I think that was the feeling at the time—like wow, this is crazy.”
Ricochet’s debut at Wembley Stadium was nothing short of historic, and with the support of the AEW locker room, he delivered a performance to remember. Now, as he prepares to challenge Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship, fans are eagerly awaiting to see if Ricochet can continue his impressive run in AEW.
