Ricochet May Be Written Off WWE TV Soon

Ricochet finds himself in an interesting spot as his deal with WWE is slated to expire soon, something other WWE stars are finding themselves in the same position.

It was initially reported by PWInsider that Ricochet had given his notice to WWE and is slated to test out the free agency market. In contrast, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that things were “up in the air” before noting on Sunday evening that someone close to the situation said that Ricochet had not given notice. Still, he had not signed a new deal. However, Meltzer later reported that Ricochet had made his decision, but there was no confirmation.

While many may speculate that this is his decision to leave WWE, that’s not confirmed. If he does, AEW is likely a landing spot, as his style is a perfect match for AEW, and there are those, including Will Ospreay, who will push Tony Khan to sign him.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted WWE may write Ricochet off television this week. It’s possible that the WWE Speed episode taped last week and will air this Wednesday, where Andrade beat Ricochet for the Speed Title may be Ricochet’s last WWE match, as the match was moved up since Andrade also won the Speed tournament on Friday.

Meltzer said, “He’s leaving, most likely, it’s not like official official. This morning, it was he was up in the air, not signed the contract. WWE had been kind of, I guess, working with the idea he was leaving. They did have ideas for him in case he stayed. They may write him out on TV this week. But I was told (Sunday) afternoon that he did in fact make his decision. But what his decision is, that I don’t know. But I think most people have him leaving. But I think most people have him leaving. I think that’s the safest bet of the two. I can’t say that 100%. But in the words that I said to Garrett the other day, He is going where he expects to be the happiest, the happiest. So that would be where we expect to be the happiest. That’s where it’s headed.”
