Before AEW Dynamite on Wednesday night, there was a scary moment during the ROH TV tapings when Sammy Guevara appeared to be knocked out during his match with Serpentico.
Fans in attendance noted the injury happened when he went for a cutter to counter a top-rope move but missed the spot and landed on Guevara’s head. They stopped the bout, and Serpentico was awarded the victory.
Guevara was stretchered to the back. Dave Meltzer noted on Twitter that it was believed that Guevara sustained a concussion. Wade Keller of PWTorch reported Guevara was seen walking around on his own after being checked out, and it wouldn’t have been obvious that he had been stretchered earlier.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez shared what he was told about Guevara. He said, “I was told that at the time they were pretty concerned about it, but he was in the trainer’s room later and seemed to be okay, although I’m sure he will be in concussion protocol for a while.”
We wish him a speedy recovery.
