Nick Wayne Wants To Knock It Out Of The Park, Highlights The Patriarchy’s Advantage At AEW All In

Nick Wayne is willing to do whatever it takes to make an impression at AEW All In.

WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Wayne, one-third of the AEW Trios Champions, ahead of his title defense at All In at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Patriarchy’s Wayne, Christian Cage and Killswitch will defend their titles against three other teams in a London Ladder match.

Wayne said the atmosphere in London is already crazy, and it’s a surreal experience for him. Last year, Wayne was in London for All In, but this is the first time he will compete on the card.

“The nerves are up there way more knowing that you have a full match on a show like this. But you’re also blessed to have a spot on the show. This is such a packed show,” Wayne explained. “It’s probably around ten matches on the main card. And the fact that I’m in one of them, going in as a champion, very blessed for this opportunity. And I’m willing to just knock it out of the park. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make a huge stand out on the show on Sunday.”

Nick Wayne on the London Ladder match

Two teams — the Bang Bang Gang and House Of Black — have already qualified for the match. A third will be confirmed on Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision. The odds are against The Patriarchy, as the cliché goes, but Wayne believes his team still holds the advantage on Sunday.

“It is already two of the best trios in AEW. Two trios that have already held the Trios championship before, in this Ladder match. It’s going to be unreal. Everyone’s going for the same stakes, the Trios Championship. But, you got to remember, I have Chrisitan Cage on my team,” he noted.

“Christian Cage the inventor of the TLC, one of the greatest to do TLC. So, Ladder Match [or] TLC, very similar stakes. So, having Christian Cage on our side is definitely a huge advantage for me and Killswitch. So that’s kind of the biggest thing that I’m thinking of going into this match. It’s we have someone that’s very [adept] to a style like this [match] in Christian Cage.”

What is the biggest takeaway for Nick Wayne from his career so far?

The Patriarchy have been together in its current form for more than a year, and it’s one of the best examples of long-term storytelling in AEW. Wayne debuted in the company on July 12, 2023, and joined Christian’s group at WrestleDream in October 1.

Considering that the majority of his AEW run has been linked to The Patriarchy, Wayne was asked what his biggest takeaway is about being involved in a lengthy storyline. Wayne wrestled on the independent scene for several years before joining AEW, and he said just having a platform to tell these stories was a great learning experience for him.

“The biggest takeaways for me and stuff like that is kind of just how you tell a story for so long. And how much longevity you can get out of certain segments or matches. Because on the independents, you would run storylines, but they were never this long. Never had like a weekly — especially televised show — on the independents. So, whenever it came to kind of storylines on the indies it never got as crazy as this.

“So, it was kind of like… not a shock to me, but it was something new that I’ve never seen. But I was willing to dive in head first. And I was like, let’s do it, please. So, it’s definitely a huge learning experience for me getting to see what it’s like first hand.”
