Mark Henry – ‘Cody Rhodes Needed Hard Time To Reach WWE’s Top’

Cody Rhodes needed to go through some very hard times as part of his journey to the very top of WWE, according to Hall of Famer Mark Henry.

Rhodes parted ways with WWE in 2016, frustrated over his role as ‘Stardust’ and a year after the passing of his father Dusty Rhodes.

On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Henry explained how Cody’s difficulties have shaped him into WWE’s current top star. He said,

“He needed to go through ‘Hard Times.’ He needed to be sharpened. Guess what…Cody’s sword is razor sharp now, and he cut Roman’s ass, and he was swinging it. There’s a term that I’m not gonna use because I might get in trough but Cody’s swinging it right now.

“He’s full of himself. He can feel the power now. He’s Neo. He’s unplugged. He’s ready to go.”

Rhodes has certainly made it through ‘hard times’ as he’s the current WWE Champion after dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

At WWE Bad Blood 2024, Rhodes and Reigns will team up to face off against The Bloodline; Reigns’ first match since his defeat in Philadelphia.

Mark Henry recently described Cody as the ‘Commander-In-Chief’ of WWE. Click here to check out more from the World’s Strongest Man.
