Last night’s plans for Randy Orton on WWE Raw were dropped without explanation

Last night on WWE Raw, they went ahead with the scooter race segments as planned between Alpha Academy and Matt Riddle but it was noticeable that Randy Orton was nowhere to be seen during those segments. After the scooter race, Riddle beat Otis and there was no sign of Randy Orton at ringside.

PWInsider noted before the Rumble that there was a push to give Orton some time in the Rumble so he could shine in front of his hometown fans in St. Louis since he would get one of the biggest crowd reactions. That didn’t happen and instead, Orton was only in the match for a few minutes before getting tossed out.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer pointed out that Orton was not at Raw last night after being advertised for the scooter segments.

“I don’t know what’s going on with Randy Orton,” Meltzer said. “If you remember, last week the big thing of the scooter race was about how Otis and Randy Orton were also going to have a scooter race. Randy Orton was not even at the show and he wasn’t put in the Chamber match either. That’s another question. I don’t know the answer to that one.”

Meltzer also noted how odd it was that Orton was not on the show last night and how he didn’t get much time in the Rumble in his hometown.

“I thought it was weird Orton not being on TV. Also, the other thing was he was only in the Rumble for a couple of minutes too.”
