Kurt Angle Would Put A Match With GUNTHER Up There With Eddie Guerrero And Chris Benoit: ‘He’s That Good’

Kurt Angle has given some high praise to Gunther.

One all-time great has nothing but great things to say about the World Heavyweight Champion. Kurt Angle has faced most of the top wrestlers in WWE history, and sees Gunther as up there with the best of them.

The pair had a brief confrontation at Raw XXX, teasing a match between Kurt Angle and Gunther. However, luckily (for Angle’s sake), the bout never took place. However, it is a match that the fans and Kurt Angle would have loved to see in his prime.

Kurt Angle spoke about Gunther during a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest (H/T to Post Wrestling for the transcription). The WWE Hall of Famer spoke very highly about the Austrian, calling him “really good”. However, he noted that he wouldn’t want to face any of his infamously painful chops.

The Olympic Gold Medallist added that he would have loved to face Gunther in his prime. He even compared the World Heavyweight Champion to Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit, adding that “he’s really that good”.

“[GUNTHER is a] great talent. I love his talent. He is [a throwback] and he’s a great technician. Really good. I don’t wanna be in front of any of his chops though. “

“Yes, yes [I would have looked forward to that match in my prime.] I think it’d be a really good match.” The WWE Hall of Famer added. “I would put it up there with Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit. I think he’s really that good.”

Kurt Angle Thinks Him Managing American Made Would Be A Great Idea

In the same interview, Kurt Angle did show interest in coming back to wrestling as a manager.

He said that, and stressed that “if the money was right”, that he would love to come back to manage American Made. However, he said that a match is not going to happen.

“If the money was right (I would come back to manage a faction)… The spot (matters too), yeah, definitely,” Kurt Angle said. “I think Chad (Gable) and his gang that he has right now, that would be a great idea. I wouldn’t mind doing a spot here and there. But, if you’re gonna ask me to do a wrestling match, it’s just not gonna happen. Yeah, I could take some bumps.” [H/T: POST Wrestling]
