Jeff Hardy is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world and no matter what, he will always have the support of fans. Unfortunately, Jeff Hardy?s personal demons have truly cost him a great deal as his DUI arrest prevented a major tag team title opportunity.
The Charismatic Enigma made headlines for all the wrong reasons after he was?arrested for driving under the influence?after leaving a Florida Dave & Busters,?where he had a concert that night back in 2022 and this was his third DUI arrest in a decade as well.
Jeff Hardy?s?AEW contract was set to expire in June?and all signs pointed towards him?returning to TNA?after he became a free agent. That?s exactly what happened as he returned at Against All Odds and is now a regular fixture on TNA television.
Jeff and Matt Hardy joined Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer on Busted Open, where they talked about the possibility of winning the IWGP Tag Team Championships, a title that has eluded them.
Matt explained that when AEW and NJPW had a working relationship, they considered going after the titles. However, Jeff?s situation at the time put those plans on hold. Matt expressed how happy he is to see Jeff in a better place now and left the door open for the future. Jeff referenced the fact that due to his past legal issues, he?s currently unable to leave the country, meaning he?d have to win the titles in the U.S.
Matt:?โI think when they (NJPW) had a relationship with AEW, it?s something that we talked about that would be cool to do it if things worked out but, you know, again, sometimes things happen for a reason. Who knows? Jeff went through a situation[his arrest]. He was gone for a while and he?s in the best place he?s ever been in his life right now which I love to see every single day. But as far as those Tag Titles go, I mean, it?s pro wrestling and never say never.โ
Jeff:?โโI would probably have to win and lose them in America.โ
As Jeff Hardy continues to?rebuild his career in TNA Wrestling, we will have to wait and see whether Matt and Jeff Hardy will someday become the IWGP Tag Team Champions, as anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling.
