El Desperado Taking Leave Of Absence To Undergo Meniscus Surgery

El Desperado will be taking some time away from the ring.

El Desperado (via NJPW) announced that he would be taking a leave of absence and having surgery on a media meniscus injury, which has affected him for the past several months. Desperado said that the timing was right, given the ongoing NJPW G1 Climax 34 tournament, and he wanted to make sure that he could be at 100%. He expressed his interest to return, win the Best of the Super Juniors and regain the NJPW Junior Heavyweight Championship.

Desperado last wrestled at DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2024 on July 21, where he defeated Chris Brookes in a No Disqualification Match. He lost the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship to DOUKI at the NJPW Soul event on July 5th.

WrestleZone wishes Desperado well in his recovery. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
