Cody Rhodes Unveils Unexpected Detail About 9/20 WWE SmackDown Segment with Roman Reigns

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns’ careers have been intertwined for a long time now and they were featured in a cinematic segment on SmackDown last month at Georgia Tech. In fact, Rhodes has now revealed an unknown detail about the aforementioned segment.

On the September 20 episode of SmackDown, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes face came face-to-face at Georgia Tech’s field in Atlanta, and the tension between them grew. Reigns arrived in a line of cars, walking confidently onto the field, while Cody showed up in a stylish sports car.

Reigns promised Rhodes that he would support him at WWE Bad Blood in their match against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu from The Bloodline. However, he also hinted that he wants something back that is his.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso for Undisputed, Cody Rhodes talked about the segment with Roman Reigns at Georgia Tech. He expressed a wish that more people could have experienced the moment in person to see how genuine their work can be. He explained that he and Reigns didn’t speak; they simply stood on opposite sides of the field and walked toward each other without knowing what the other would say.

”I wish people could have been there on the ground.  To see how real our business can get.

Never spoke–just stood on opposite sides of the field and walked towards each other, neither with knowledge of what the other would say and just going straight through.”

Rhodes also praised the team behind the segment, specifically mentioning Paul Heyman, Jeremy Borash, and Rob Fee for their creative work. He noted that it reminded him of the old days in World Class Championship Wrestling when credits rolled after the segments.

“Hats off to Mr. Heyman, JB (Jeremy Borash), and Rob Fee for putting it in such a stylized manner.

“Reminded me of when World Class [Championship Wrestling] used to have credits roll after.”

We had already reported on the creative minds behind the segment beforehand. Cody Rhodes also made it abundantly clear that he still isn’t sure whether Roman Reigns will keep his word. Nevertheless, WWE is clearly going all out with Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes’ current storyline, so we’ll have to see how he and Reigns will fare against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at WWE Bad Blood on October 5th.
