Bobby Lashley opens up on his relationship with Vince McMahon

Bobby Lashley has been part of the WWE over the course of two different runs. His first stint was in the mid-2000s where he was seen as the next big star but left the company to pursue other ventures including a transition into MMA.

Now that he’s back in WWE, he’s been giving the bigger push of his career and is currently the WWE Champion.

While speaking with TalkSport, Lashley was asked about his relationship with Vince McMahon. He started off by noting that he learned more about the wrestling business when he feuded with the McMahon family in 2007.

He recalled working with the likes of Fit Finlay, Booker T, JBL, William Regal, Umaga, Big Show, and more during his first run including Vince and Shane McMahon. Lashley said someone can’t learn more about the business than wrestling and feuding with the person the business is about, which is Vince.

“I learned so much from him at that time and Vince isn’t going to get in the ring with somebody he doesn’t have trust for. If he didn’t have trust in me, then I would never have the opportunity to have the feud with him.”

He noted that at that point in time, McMahon gave Lashley his trust and ran with it.

“So I think right now, I always had that trust from Vince. He knows the kind of guy I am, he knows what I’m about,” he added. “Vince is the type of person who works his ass off and it shows from what he’s done with the business. He sees that in me and he’s always seen that in me.

He knows I’ll always bust my ass and he can put me in his company and I’ll always do the right thing, 100 percent. That’s what I’ve always done. I think Vince understands that and that’s why I’m the champion to this day.”

Lashley will defend the WWE Title against Goldberg at the SummerSlam pay-per-view event on Saturday, August 21 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium.
