For months, WWE has been teasing that Sasha Banks and Bayley would be splitting up. The original plan was for them to wrestle each other at SummerSlam but the decision was made to delay the feud. WWE pulled the trigger on their split this week.
Bayley and Banks got a rematch against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax for the Women’s Tag Team Championship on this week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown but things didn’t work out as they planned because Baszler and Jax retained their title when Jax pinned both Banks and Bayley at the same time after hitting a lateral cross body off the second rope.
After the match, the trainers checked on Banks who apparently injured her knee during the match. Michael Cole pointed out that Banks was injured when she went for a double knee spot but ended up crashing into the ring post.
After the commercial break, Banks was still be checked on by the trainers as Bayley looked on in the corner of the ring. Banks refused help so Bayley helped her up but, as expected, Bayley attacked her by stomping her and throwing her into the steel steps. Bayley continued the attack by working over Banks “injured” leg by the steel steps.
The attack continued in the ring for several minutes until Bayley leaped off the second rope and stomped on a chair that was wrapped around Bayley’s head.
After the commercial break, they showed Bayley being taken away in an ambulance.
