On Wednesday, it was reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet that Mike and Maria Kanellis requested their release from WWE. As of today, there has been no statement from Mike on the story but his wife Maria denied that she asked to be released.
I checked around and was told by someone in WWE that Ryan Satin’s story is accurate and they did indeed request, and were denied, their release. Maria may have her reasons for denying the story but our source was very clear to us and was said that the original story is correct. “Satin is getting heat for a story he got right,” said our source.
There were some in the company that assumed that Mike and Maria would pop up on Raw or SmackDown Live after she gave birth and that may have been the reason why Mike wasn’t used on TV for many months. Instead, they were moved to 205 Live, which is basically WWE’s C show.
As we’ve been saying for months, it’s highly unlikely that WWE will release anyone while they still have time on their contract especially now that companies like New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring Of Honor and All Elite Pro Wrestling are willing to spend significant money on talent.
