The Buy In

Tony Schiavone interviewed SCU backstage. Christopher Daniels said the lies being told by Dark Order end tonight and he will be at ringside. However, Frankie and Scorpio Sky feel its best for Daniels to stay backstage and away from the ringside area.

SCU (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) vs. The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson)
SCU almost had this match won with the SCU later but Dark Order member Alex Reynolds interfered and taht allowed Grayson to pin Scorpio Sky. Colt Cabana’s music played and he made his way to the ring to take out the Dark Order members who were attacking SCU after the match. There were too man of them and they were able to beat down Cabana. Someone dressed in a black cape walked out and he revealed himself to be Daniels but it was a swerve and he was there to help SCU and Cabana take out Dark Order.

Lexy Nair interviewed Jurassic Express backstage. They are going to keep a close eye on MJF vs. Cody to make sure it’s a fair fight.

Main Card
They kicked things off with the singing of the National Anthem.

Jake Hager vs. Dustin Rhodes
This is Hager’s first match in AEW and he had his own theme song separate from the Inner Circle. Hager kissed his wife at ringside. Dustin had a shirt that said, “I’m here to beat Jericho’s bitch.” The action briefly spilled into the crowd in the first few minutes and then back to ringside and back in the ring. Late in the match, Dustin took out Hager as he was getting advice from his wife. Dustin then planted a kiss on the face of Hager’s wife after she tried to punch him. This was a slow-paced match but the fans were into it and things picked up in the final minutes. Hager was able to secure the ankle lock but Dustin broke free. Hager hit a low blow when the ref’s back was turned. Hager locked in an arm triangle and forced Dustin to submit. Hager celebrated with his wife after the match.

AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts on March 25 from New Jersey will feature 2 rings convered by one cage.

Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara
The match took several minutes to officially get started because they fought at ringside and that included Guevara doing a 450 splash onto Darby through a table at ringside. Jurassic Express watched this match from ringside.

Darby won this match with a Coffin Drop. This was faced paced from the start. Darby got a lot of distance on the Coffin Drop. After the match, Darby was about to use the skateboard on Sammy but Jake Hager rescued him.

AEW World Tag Team Championship
Kenny Omega and Hangman Page vs. The Young Bucks

There was tension from the start of the match between Hangman and everyone else in the match including his tag team partner Omega. Hangman was about to put Matt Jackson through a table at ringside but Omega stopped him from doing that.

There were more hard-hitting spots instead of high flying action and they still put on a great match. Fans booed offensive spots from Nick and Matt and cheered everything done by Hangman. The pace really picked up in the final minutes as the match went from great to fantastic and fans chanted “fight forever.” There was a scary looking reverse frankensteiner that ended up with Kenny landing on the back of his head off the top and Matt hit several locomotions on the rampway that led to the ring.

The Bucks also hit an Indy Taker spike on the ramp on Hangman as fans booed them. That move took Hangman out of the match with Kenny left to fight for himself. The Bucks hit super kicks and a double v-trigger but Kenny kicked out at one to a huge pop. Kenny ate another superkick and then kicked out. Matt was calling a lot of the shots with Nick showing some remorse for some of the things they were doing in this match. They were about to try the Meltzer Driver but Page got up and powerbombed Nick through a table at ringside. Kenny and Page hit the Buckshot v-trigger combination but that was not enough to pin Matt.

Hangman hit the One Winged Angel on Matt but Nick broke up the pin attempt. Hangman ultimately won the match by pinning Matt after hitting the Buckshot Lariat. Incredible match. fter the match, Page teased hitting the Buckshot Lariat on Omega but that was not what he ended up doing. He held the ropes for Kenny and they walked out.

AEW Women’s World Championship
Nyla Rose vs. Kris Statlander

Excalibur noted that Statlander has been dealing with the flu over the last few days and she has just started to recover from the illness. There were times in the match where it seemed like Statlander was off so she may have been still dealing with the flu.

It took a while for them to get the crowd involved but this ended up being a pretty decent match. Late in the match, Statlander hit a suplex that was almost botched and could have been bad if they landed wrong. The suplex ended up looking like an avalanche brainbuster. Statlander tried a hurricanrana off the top but Nyla turned it into a beast bomb and then she pinned Statlander to retain the title.

Cody Rhodes vs. MJF

Early on, MJF threw beer on a fan. Moments later, Brandi tossed beer in the face of Warlow and that baited him to go after her but Cody hit a suicide dive through the ropes to take out Wardlow. However, Wardlow was able to get his hands on Cody by driving his shoulder into the ring post. The announcers pointed out that Cody was wrestling with a broken toe because of the cage dive from a couple of weeks ago.

MJF took off Cody’s boot to expose the foot with the broken toe. MJF bit the toe and fans chanted “you sick f*ck” at him. Wardlow tried to interfere again but Arn made him back up with a chair. MJF was busted open after taking a kick to the face and the blood poured out of his forehead. Moments later, Cody accidentally kicked Arn at ringside when Wardlow moved out of the way.

There was a slugfest that ended up with MJF hitting the Double Cross but Cody kicked out at 2. MJF took Cody’s belt and was about to use it but the ref took it away and Cody hit a low blow and then planted him but MJF kicked out. Cody whipped MJF with the belt. The ref was about to take the belt away but allowed Cody to whip him one more time. MJF appeared to be crying and hugged Cody but then spit at Cody and Cody grabbed him and hit two consecutive Cross Rhodes but MJF used the diamond ring to knock out Cody and pinned him.

PAC vs. Orange Cassidy

There was some comedy at the start of the match but this quickly became a wrestling match with PAC hitting some offense in the first few minutes. PAC drove Cassidy’s head into the ring post at ringside and then continued to beat on him in the ring for several minutes. PAC hit an avalanche brainbuster off the top and he could have pinned Cassidy but he pulled him up before 3. PAC then went for the Red Arrow but Cassidy rolled out of the ring. PAC tried the Red Arrow again but Cassidy rolled out again. Cassidy got a second wind and hit a suicide dive through the ropes, hit a cross body off the top and a DDT. He almost pinned PAC but he kicked out.

Cassidy surprised PAC with a diving right hand and then the slumdog millionaire (stunner-like move) and then he went for a move off the top but PAC tripped him up. PAC tried a piledriver off the top but Cassidy countered into a DDT off the top and then a diving DDT off the top but PAC rolled out of the ring before the pin attempt. Trent tossed PAC into the ring and Cassidy hit the Air Raid crash but PAC barely kicked out. Lucha Bros ran out and took out Trent but Chuck Taylor did a dive on them. Cassidy was distracted by this as PAC got up. PAC locked in the Brutalizer submission and Cassidy tapped out.

AEW World Championship
Chris Jericho vs. Jon Moxley

Jericho had a choir to sing his song before he began walking to the ring. Santana and Ortiz were in Jericho’s corner during this match. They started out by brawling in the ring and then the brawl went into the crowd. They brawl continued for several minutes at ringside. Jericho powerbombed Mox on the table with the ring bell and the camera showed that there was blood around Moxley’s bad eye.

Back in the ring, Mox was able to get in some brief offense but he was tossed out of the ring and then attacked by Ortiz and Santana at ringside. Several minutes later, Ortiz hit Moxley with the loaded sock and Jericho almost scored a pinfall after hitting the Lionsault.

Moxley got some offense and he had the Walls of Jericho applied on Jericho but Mox had to fight off Jake Hager and Jericho then hit the Code Breaker for a near all. Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho but Mox made it to the ropes. Jericho got into it with ref Aubrey. She was Hager interfering again so she tossed him out along with Ortiz and Santana. Sammy Guevara snuck in the ring and nailed Mox with the title belt and then he escaped through the crowd. Jericho went to pin Mox but Mox kicked out.

The match turned into a slugfest with both men exchanging punches while Moxley’s eye continued to bleed. Jericho took out Moxley’s good eye and then continued to work on it to keep him blinded. Mox avoided the Judas Effect and then hit Jericho with the Paradigm Shift. Mox pulled off his eye patch and revealed that he can see from his eye. Mox hit the Paradigm Shift again and pinned Jericho to win the title.

Mox grabbed the microphone and said “God damn, I love this sh*t.” He said it’s been a hell of a year for him and he said AEW belongs to the fans because they have been driving the company forward and they are the energy that fuels AEW.

Mox said a year ago there was a conversation about pro wrestling being brought back to the people and that is what happened. He said the AEW World Championship belongs to the fans. He thanked all of the fans that have stuck with him through the good and bad and said the title belongs to them.

Mox said he doesn’t have words to describe the gratitude he has for the AEW family. He closed out by saying it’s beer o’clock. Mox said he will take on anyone, anytime and any place. His music played and then he went out into the crowd to celebrate with the fans.
