AEW Revolution: Cody Rhodes vs. MJF

In one of the featured matches on the card, Cody Rhodes finally got his chance to get his hands on MJF at AEW Revolution in Chicago, IL. Wardlow was at ringside for MJF and Arn Anderson and Brandi Rhodes were at ringside for Cody. Downstait was there to do a live performance of Cody’s theme. Cody was sporting a new “Nightmare Family” tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Early on, MJF threw beer on a fan. Moments later, Brandi tossed beer in the face of Warlow and that baited him to go after her but Cody hit a suicide dive through the ropes to take out Wardlow. However, Wardlow was able to get his hands on Cody by driving his shoulder into the ring post. The announcers pointed out that Cody was wrestling with a broken toe because of the cage dive from a couple of weeks ago.

MJF took off Cody’s boot to expose the foot with the broken toe. MJF bit the toe and fans chanted “you sick f*ck” at him. Wardlow tried to interfere again but Arn made him back up with a chair. MJF was busted open after taking a kick to the face and the blood poured out of his forehead. Moments later, Cody accidentally kicked Arn at ringside when Wardlow moved out of the way.

There was a slugfest that ended up with MJF hitting the Double Cross but Cody kicked out at 2. MJF took Cody’s belt and was about to use it but the ref took it away and Cody hit a low blow and then planted him but MJF kicked out. Cody whipped MJF with the belt. The ref was about to take the belt away but allowed Cody to whip him one more time. MJF appeared to be crying and hugged Cody but then spit at Cody and Cody grabbed him and hit two consecutive Cross Rhodes but MJF used the diamond ring to knock out Cody and pinned him.
