Tony Khan kicked off the second hour of this week’s AEW Dynamite with a major live event announcement.
Khan announced that AEW Rampage on August 20 will take place at the United Center in Chicago, IL.
Immediately after that announcement, fans in the building began chanting CM Punk’s name. Darby Allin cut a promo and said that he will be in Chicago and he’s been around a lot of men that have laid claim to be the greatest but there’s only one place to prove that “even if you think you’re the best in the world.”
Although his name was not mentioned, this is the first time that AEW has confirmed the CM Punk rumors. The promo from Allin suggests that fans may see Punk on August 20th. They would need something big to sell out the United Center for Rampage and Punk can certainly help sell tickets.
