The Buy In pre-show
21-Woman Casino Battle Royale
Nyla Rose, Britt Baker, Brandi Rhodes, Teal Piper, Ivelisse, Jazz, Big Swole, Sadie Gibbs, Awesome Kong, Shazza McKenzie, Allie
Leva Bates, Faby Apache, Priscilla Kelly, Nyla Rose and Shelondra were the first entrants. Nyla Rose eliminated all 4 other competitors before the next group entered the match.
The second group: Penelope Ford, Shazza McKenzie, Sadie Gibbs, Big Swole, Dr. Britt Baker.
The third group: Tenille Dashwood, Ivelisse, Bea Priestly, Brandi Rhodes, Awesome Kong.
The fourth group: Allie, Nicole Savoy, Teal Piper, ODB, Jazz.
Final entrant was Mercedes Martinez.
Nyla Rose won the match after eliminating Britt Baker. Rose will wrestle for the AEW Womens’ World Championship on October 2nd on TNT.
Private Party vs. Angelico and Jack Evans
Private Party won the match with a combination Diamond Cutter on Angelico off the top rope. This was a fine match but clunky at times. Both teams shook hands after the match but Angelico and Jack Evans attacked after the match so it looks like they will feud going into the TNT debut.
They showed a vignette for a new wrestler named Wardlow.
Jenn Decker interviewed MJF. He thinks Cody will choose him to be in his corner later tonight.
Jim Ross was introduced.
Main Card
Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, and Marko Stunt) vs. SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, and Scorpio Sky)
This was a very good opener. SCU won after Daniels hit the BME with Kazarian holding both Stunt and Jungle Boy in the piledriver position at the same time. They all shook hands after the match.
PAC vs. Kenny Omega
Very good match but it felt like it should have gone longer. There were plenty of V-triggers, reversals and near falls. The finish was Omega attempting the Angel’s Wings but PAC reversed into the Brutalizer submission. Omega passed out and the referee declared PAC as the winner. Many fans were shocked because they weren’t expecting PAC to win. Janela did a package piledriver onto Allin on the ring apron.
Cracker Barrel Clash
Darby Allin vs. Joey Janela vs. Jimmy Havoc
Jimmy Havoc started the match by using the staple gun on himself. Janela and Allin forced Havoc onto a chair at ringside, poured thumbtacks into his mouth and they taped his mouth and they taped his body to the chair so this was a singles match for a few minutes. Allin dove onto Havoc while he was sitting in the chair. Havoc took a piece of paper to give Janela paper cuts on his hands and on his mouth. Janela countered with a brainbuster onto the chair. Janela then charged at Allin and did a flip powerbomb through a table on the outside of the ring. Janela did a moonsault off the top to the ringside floor but Havoc moved and Janela crashed hard. Havoc smashed a tray of Cracker Barrel biscuits on Janela’s head. Havoc brought the Cracker Barrel to ringside. Allin hit Janela and Havoc with a skateboard. The skateboard had thumbtacks placed on it. Allin tried a senton splash onto Havoc on steel steps at ringside but Havoc moved and the barrel was destroyed by the steps. Havoc superplexed Janela onto a Cracker Barrel in the ring and then clotheslined him onto the barrel. Havoc pinned Janela.
Winner gest first-round bye in AEW Tag Team Title Tournament
Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta) vs. The Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson)
Trent almost had a pin on Grayson late in the match but he was pulled out of the ring by Uno. The rest of The Dark Order attacked Taylor on the other side of the ring to take him out of the match. Grayson and Uno executed their Fatality finisher to pin Baretta and to win a bye in the first round of the AEW Tag Team Title tournament. Dark Order was about to carry Baretta to the back but the lights went out and Orange Cassidy appeared in the ring. He hit a tope suicida on Dark Order at ringside. Cassidy and Best Friends hugged after the match. Jim Ross seemed to have no idea who Orange Cassidy is.
Riho vs. Hikaru Shida
The winner of this match will wrestle Nyla Rose on October 2nd on the first TNT to determine the first AEW Women’s Champion. Riho got the pin with a crucifix. The match was fine but it seemed like fans weren’t into everything until the final minutes. It will be Riho vs. Nyla Rose for the AEW Women’s Championship on October 2nd on TNT.
Cody Rhodes vs. Shawn Spears (w/Tully Blanchard)
Spears’ entrance started with him sitting on a chair to silence and then his music played and he began to walk to the ring with the chair in his hand. He was joined by Tully Blanchard. Brandi Rhodes, Diamond Dallas Page, Pharoah and MJF were seen walking backstage towards the stage area when they got to the ring, Earl Hebner let Cody know that only one person could be in his corner. That person turned out to be MJF. There was tons of interference from Blanchard but the odds were evened when Arn Anderson walked out and hit the spinebuster on Spears and that allowed Rhodes to hit the Cross Rhodes for the win. AEW World Championship
Adam “Hangman” Page vs. Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho defeated Page with the Judas Effect to win the AEW World Title. Jericho was busted open during the match. There were plenty of near falls and kick outs from finishing moves.
