WWE’s Plans For Future Premium Live Events

WWE is holding more premium live events outside of the United States than ever, and that trend is continuing.

So far, WWE has confirmed Backlash France on May 4, King & Queen Of The Ring in Saudi Arabia on May 26, Clash At The Castle: Scotland on June 15th, Money in the Bank at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on July 6, SummerSlam in Cleveland, OH on August 3, and Bash in Berlin on August 31.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was recapping WWE President Nick Khan’s appearance at the World Congress of Sports convention on Wednesday. Khan noted that they would like for the big five PLEs to be held at stadiums in both the US and Canada while holding the other PLEs in international markets.

“He said that the new plan going forward is Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Money in the Bank, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series they want to do in the US and Canada with at least three of them stadium shows, and then all the other pay-per-views they want to sell overseas, which is, I guess, good and bad. I mean, one of the positives for me is that these overseas shows are early in the day. So just get them over with in the morning first thing in the morning. I mean, when you go to Europe, they’re, you know, early afternoon, and when you go to Australia, they’re actually the middle of the night. So you got to you know, and then you know, the Saudi shows are early morning. So it looks like probably seven pay-per-views a year are no longer in primetime.”
