Booker T on The Undertaker’s retirement and which wrestler in WWE has stepped up in recent months

WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T is the guest this week on Corey Graves’ “After The Bell” podcast.

Booker talked about ring psychology, his training school, the cancellation of WWE Backstage and several topics related to the current wrestling scene.

Here are some highlights:

Do you believe we have seen the last of the Undertaker?: “I know how hard it is to walk away from the business and say that’s the last time I’m going to do this. I’ve been out of a WWE ring for quite some time now, but rest assured, if they called me and said hey Book, I would say can you help me find my boots. I’m on the plane. I’m there. One thing about professional wrestlers. We can say we are retiring. We can say that’s the last ride. But, it’s not over until they put us in the ground. It ain’t over until they put the soil on us. That’s the final ride. Take Bullet Bob Armstrong, who right now is filled with cancer. The last post I saw him post was him in the gym on the bench, just in case he gets that phone call. That’s the way we are. That’s why I say that, not to disrespect The Undertaker and his wishes of saying, hey man, it’s the last ride. I’m walking away. I don’t want to screw that up or anything like that. I’m just giving you the real as far as we as professional wrestlers, we as performers. That itch is always there and you always want to scratch it.”

Who do you think stepped up their game in recent months?: “Drew is the one guy who has been in that position to take it to another level because he’s the guy. For him, people wondered about, especially being the guy in this era we are in now. I look at Drew as well as Randy’s promos. Also, I talked to Seth Rollins. It’s a few guys who have taken this moment and made it their own. Those are my top 3 guys that have done that. Maybe the younger guys, I wouldn’t say they are not smart enough, but they are just not thinking that way just yet. I think they are just caught up in having their matches and that’s it.”
