Who Is The Best Option To Challenge Jey Uso For The WWE Intercontinental Title?

Jey Uso won what was arguably the biggest match of his WWE career last week on RAW. “Mr. MonJey Night” beat Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship. Jey had previously unsuccessfully challenged for a singles title on multiple occasions.

The new Intercontinental Champion will be in the house tonight presumably to kick off his first feud for the title. Let’s take a look at the five men who could potentially challenge Jey for his newly won championship.

Ludwig Kaiser

If there’s anyone who has benefited from Imperium’s implosion, it’s Ludwig Kaiser. The former Marcel Barthel got the Sheamus rub after distancing himself from Giovanni Vinci in April 2024. Speaking of Vinci, things are looking bleak for the Italian superstar as far as his push is concerned.

Kaiser, on the other hand, had a competitive match against Sami Zayn en route to WWE Bad Blood. It looks like WWE Creative has big plans for the German and could potentially put him in a feud with Jey Uso for the Intercontinental Championship. Both men have competed against each other in singles and multi-man matches in the past.

Chad Gable vs. Jey Uso could be a major feud

Not booking Chad Gable to dethrone Gunther for the Intercontinental title will remain a major WWE error in my book. Gable could’ve benefited when it mattered the most. Hopefully, Triple H won’t fumble American Made because that stable has a lot of potential to succeed in both singles and tag division.

The Creed Brothers could work their way to the world tag team titles with Ivy Nile going after a women’s mid-card title assuming Triple H introduces one in 2024. As for Gable, he could challenge (and even dethrone) Jey Uso for the Intercontinental Championship in the grand scheme of things.

Bronson Reed

I’m glad Bronson Reed is getting the opportunity to showcase his potential under the Triple H regime. If he was still working under the old regime, he would’ve been reduced to a comedy act. Hunter worked closely with Reed in NXT and he’s once again instrumental in establishing him as a legitimate monster on the main roster.

Reed has decimated the likes of Seth Rollins and R-Truth with his Tsunami. His feud against Braun Strowman has been a consistent HIT in our weekly WWE RAW hits and misses series. I can see Reed taking on Jey in the aftermath of his feud with Strowman. We’ll have full coverage of their “Last Monster Standing” match as it airs on RAW tonight.

Dominik Mysterio & Jey Uso are no strangers to each other

Remember when “Dirty Dom” was trying to get Jey to join The Judgment Day? Jey broke out as a singles star. Dominik turned heel while being a heel at WWE SummerSlam 2024. The betrayal came at a heavy price because Dom will be locked inside a shark cage hanging above the ring this Saturday.

It’s obvious WWE wants to continue the romance angle between Jey Uso and Rhea Ripley. The dropped a “flirty moments” compilation of the pair in the lead-up to Bad Blood. Jey’s involvement with Rhea could very well plant the seeds for a one-on-one feud between Jey and Dominik with the Intercontinental title at stake.

Ilja Dragunov

Jey was one of the first superstars to test Ilja Dragunov not long after The Czar’s main roster arrival. Both men met in the KOTR quarterfinals. Ilja lost the match that night but earned Jey’s respect in the process. Both men have since shared backstage segments.

Ilja was one of the three participants Jey beat to face Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship. He could potentially show up on RAW tonight to challenge Jey for his title. Let’s see if my predictions turns out to be true.
